Dr. Waters is an educator specializing in the application of transformational leadership theory within the complex nursing environments of the 21st century. She plays a crucial role in fostering collaboration between academic institutions and clinical partners in the Houston healthcare community, enhancing the connection between education and practice.
Before her current position, Dr. Waters held significant roles, including System-Level Director of Practice and Executive Nurse Advisor for Strategic Planning at both Harris Health System and the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB). During her tenure as Associate Dean for Practice at UTMB from 1994 to 2003, she led initiatives aimed at strengthening clinical-academic collaboration and developed nursing professional practice models to promote excellence in the field.
With over 40 years of experience in clinical and academic leadership, Dr. Waters is dedicated to creating healing environments and advancing nursing through evidence-based practices and transformational leadership.
